What’s new at Skills Ignite

Skills Ignite and Skills Premier celebrated Pasifika Week 2025 with traditional dances, choir performances, and a stunning cultural runway show. Students represented Pacific islands from Samoa to Aotearoa, showcasing deep cultural appreciation and celebration. The celebration brought both campuses together in a beautiful display of unity and cultural pride!

Our Skills Ignite campus became a culinary battleground on July 29th as 34 of Australasia’s finest chefs competed in an intense seven-hour cook-off at the 7th Australasian Tapas Competition. With world-class judging and state-of-the-art facilities, the event showcased exceptional regional talent while crowning winners destined for the international stage in Spain.

Auckland Council’s Nandita Singh transformed her confidence and career trajectory through Skills Ignite’s Level 4 business qualification. From avoiding Excel to driving workplace improvements, she discovers how hands-on learning helped her unlock potential she didn’t know existed and takes charge to grow her career.

Our campus came together to celebrate the Māori New Year – Manawatia a Matariki! It was a vibrant day of reflection, connection, and culture, filled with incredible performances from our talented students, delicious kai prepared by our amazing Cookery team, and plenty of good vibes across Skills Ignite.

Skills Group recently welcomed Jordan Kestle, Head of International Projects at Schweizerische Hotelfachschule Luzern (SHL), to explore partnership and student exchange opportunities within our Skills Ignite Cookery and Hospitality programmes.
